Despite the environment being a rising tide issue that will not be going away, green issues are still a low priority at the national government level and slipping
back to a marginal issue for the media, creating a less urgent status for the big eco challenges in the public’s mindset. And just after we’ve worked so hard to
make our environment front page news! So where do we go from here? The green movement is very diverse, with many different approaches and opinions
about the way forward—but one thing we can all agree on is that we’re quickly running out of time, species, and resources. Join us for a lively discussion!
Betsy Rosenberg, Moderator, is a trailblazer in
bringing green content to mainstream radio audiences. In 1997
Betsy launched TrashTalk minutes on KCBS and in 2004
began hosting EcoTalk on Air America, the nation’s first daily
green interview program. In 2002, she founded the “Don’t Be
Fueled!” campaign, and currently hosts Turn It Around with
Betsy Rosenberg on the Progressive Radio Network.
Carl Anthony is the co-founder of Breakthrough
Communities. He was the founder and executive director
of the Urban Habitat Program in the San Francisco
Bay Area, and has served as the Acting Director of the
Community and Resource Development Unit at the Ford
Foundation. He was also a Fellow at the Institute of Politics,
John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard
University.
Paloma Pavel, PhD, is the other co-founder of Breakthrough
Communities and the president of Earth House
Center. She is the editor of the recent published Breakthrough
Communities: Sustainability and Justice in the Next American
Metropolis. She is a frequent lecturer and keynote presenter nationally
and internationally on the theory of living systems and urban sustainability.
Matt Golden is the co-founder and president of
Recurve. Prior to founding the company in 2004, Matt
worked as an Energy Consultant, helping homeowners and
businesses develop solar power systems. Matt was recently
recognized by the Building Performance Institute as the
first-ever recipient of the Tony Woods Award for Excellence
in Advancing the Home Performance Industry.

Vinit Allen is the founder and director of Sustainable
World Coalition, a project of Earth Island Institute. He is a
sustainability educator and presents the Awakening the Dreamer
Symposium for the Pachamama Alliance. He has recently published
the 2010 Sustainable World SourceBook, a broad overview
of major global issues and solutions and actions we can take to
make a difference.
